Flow of Custom-made Jewelry Acceptance

OKURADO’s salon “Jewelry Concierge Okura” also accepts custom-made jewelry orders from customers.

We listen to the customer’s wishes from the design stage, and sometimes use the customer’s own gemstones to create jewelry that is uniquely his or her own.

Custom-made jewelry is a service that only jewelers with a wealth of design and production knowledge and skills can provide.

In this article, we would like to explain the general flow of a custom-made jewelry service.

1) Hearing from the customer

The first step is to ask the customer what kind of item of jewelry he or she would like to have designed and what kind of image he or she would like to have created. If the customer does not have a specific image, OKURADO staff will consult with the customer to determine the direction of the design.

If the customer wants to use a gemstone that he or she already has, we will proceed with the discussion while looking at the gemstone. When you come to the store, please bring the jewelry you would like to use.　

This initial hearing is an important process for us to match your image with ours.

2) Design Drawing

Once the direction of the project has been decided, the next step is to create design drawings.　Although it depends on the trend of the requested design, it usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks to complete the process, and we will propose multiple design drawings in actual size.

Once the design drawings are completed, we will provide you with an estimate of the actual production cost.　

Although the design drawings are two-dimensional, it is much clearer what the jewelry will look like in the end. After the initial design drawing is proposed, revisions and additions to the design drawing are possible.

There is no charge for this step.

3) Design Decision

Once the design is decided, the next step is to start the actual production.　The production period varies greatly depending on the difficulty of the design.　Depending on the design, you may have to wait six months or more for the finished product.

We will charge you half of the quoted price when we start production.

4)Manufacture

If you wish, we can send you an image of the shape of the product during the manufacturing process by e-mail, etc. (However, please note that we cannot basically modify the design once it is manufactured. (However, please note that we basically do not accept any modifications to the design once it is in production.) We will contact you when it is completed.
