Creating jewelry that touches the heart.

We have used this phrase when introducing OKURADO jewelry since the launch of the OKURADO brand.

In this issue, I would like to talk about how I feel about the phrase “resonating with the heart.

In between my daily work and business trips, I sometimes go to museums, exhibitions, movie theaters, concerts, musicals, etc. to take a break.　I feel that this painting is beautiful, this scene is cool, this song is great, and so on, and this motivates me to work.　

Rarely, I encounter something that directly appeals to my heart without even a moment to think this “I like it” in my head.　At that time, I imagine that the emotion jumps directly into my heart area, not my brain.　It can be described as a feeling of being grabbed by the heart, shaken, and taken directly out into the world of the work.

For example (sorry to say this is a personal preference), when I saw the Nike of Samothrace in the Louvre museum, the second half of the movie “Close Encounter of the Third Kind”, the first time I saw Hiroshige’s Ukiyoe “The Fifty-three Stages of the Tokaido”, the colors of Ru Guan ware celadon water basin from the Northern Song Dynasty, the first time I saw 120 colors of colored pencils, the first time I saw the colors of opals, the dry landscape garden of Ryoanji temple in Kyoto, the first time I came across the five-story pagoda of Mt.Gassan,Ramin Karimloo’s singing voice from the musical “Phantom of the Opera”, Samantha Parks’ singing voice from the movie “Les Miserables,” and so on.

These were the things that “touched my heart” directly without even a moment to think about the feelings of “like” or “good” in my mind.　The jewelry is so beautiful that it blows away anything you may be thinking about before you wear it, and you are captivated by it, and your heart is taken by it.

I want to create jewelry that “touches the heart” directly.

This jewelry reproduces the captivating feeling of being surrounded by cherry blossoms in full bloom.

We want to encounter something that we feel without complaint, without having to think of reasons in our minds, just something that we find beautiful and enjoyable.　And, at least for those of us who are involved in jewelry making, I want to create jewelry that directly touches our hearts in this way.　

“Jewelry that touches the heart” is an expression of this desire.

It is still not enough, but I will devote myself to it every day.
