As previously mentioned, OKURADO’s salon “Jewelry Concierge Okura” also accepts full custom jewelry orders from customers.  We talk with our customers, listen to their wishes, and propose a design to create an original piece of jewelry.

Today, I would like to share with you a memorable episode from among the many full-custom jewelry we have created.

An order from an overseas customer.

She requested a ring with a large and beautiful pink diamond surrounded by melee diamonds, and she wanted to share the pink diamond with her husband.  The wife’s finger size is 9, while the husband’s is 28.　We had to make two different sized ring bases and add a mechanism to make the pink diamond removable so that it could be shared.　To be honest, I was going to refuse this order as impossible.　If the removal mechanism were weak, we would have risked the pink diamond, which are probably worth enough to buy several houses, falling off unnoticed.

However, the pink diamond was so attractive that I could understand why not only the wife but also the husband would want to wear it.　I consulted with the craftsman at the workshop as I drew up the design, and a few days later he made a proposal.　It was a proposal for a mechanism that could never be removed when the ring was worn, so that the top part would never come off in any way when the ring was worn.　The craftsman came up with this idea after much thought, perhaps because he himself was fascinated by this diamond

The mechanism was designed so that the center stone with pink diamonds slides out only when the hook on the back of the pink diamond is pressed.　The result is a pink diamond ring that can be shared by the couple.　Needless to say, the customer was very pleased to see her wishes come to fruition.

We were able to realize this custom jewelry because we, too, wanted to go beyond the boundaries of our work, to fulfill our customer’s wishes at all costs, and to make what seemed difficult a reality.

Full custom jewelry making requires a great deal of knowledge and experience on the part of the creator, including knowledge of gemstones, design, and the judgment of whether or not the customer’s gemstones can be reprocessed.

However, we believe that OKURADO’s mission is to create jewelry with knowledge and experience while sharing the beauty of jewelry and gemstones with our customers.
