How the “Mistletoe” Collection was created

OKURADO’s new collection for 2025, “Mistletoe” is now complete.

During my stay in France, I used to drive along a long stretch of country road and often saw a rounded tree at the top of the rows of poplar trees that lined both sides of the road. It was a “Mistletoe” that grew bright green even in winter.

Recalling this scene some time ago, I researched “Mistletoe” and learned that they have a special significance in both Japan and the West. Besides, I was particularly intrigued by the unique leaf shape. A long curved leaf and a fruit in the middle of it.

I had seen this motif in European jewelry. We thought that OKURADO ‘s craftsmen could mold this unique shape more delicately and more powerfully.

The universal positive images of “Mistletoe” such as “vitality,” “prosperity,” “happiness,” and “bonding” that have been associated with it since ancient times also inspired me to create more.

The fruit is made of round crystal balls, the leaves are made of pavé diamonds dotted with green stones, which I had seen in European jewelry before, and the metal is carved with OKURADO craftsmen’s Western carving technique (a technique in which many thin lines are carved into the metal surface to make the carved areas shine.)

The combination of materials and techniques that I had wanted to use for a long time came to my mind.

The process of combining and accumulating various materials and techniques that I had been developing in my mind, combined with elegant jewelry modeling and production techniques, resulted in a single collection.

The production of jewelry with motifs of animals and plants is an enjoyable process of selecting materials and techniques to be used, and at the same time, it shows the stance of the brand.

We hope that you will enjoy the fun of incorporating the deeply meaningful “Mistletoe” into jewelry.
